Boys on the Side

So, I went to watch the PR finale on my DVR and only Part II was on there. I was concerned about missing Part I, so I had to wait a day to record it in reruns. Come to find out, they just replayed last week's episode calling it part I of the finale. This is symptomatic of Bravo's lazy and cheap approach to PR this season. On the plus side, I was able to settle a debate between myself and one of my friends using closed captioning.

I told my friend that Tim Gunn referred to Korto's sexually themed dress as a "snatch shot" in the previous ep. He didn't believe that the term snatch wouldn't have been edited out. We watched a video clip on youtube, but were still on the fence. He was claiming it could've been "snapshot". Well, here's the photo finish in living color...

Proof that Tim Gunn is so beloved by the people he can get away with utterances no one else can with nary a whimper from the angry media watchdog mob.

So Jennifer Lopez was supposed to be a guest judge, but apparently she couldn't sit in a chair and talk because of an ankle injury...She needed to save her strength for a triathalon in Malibu? Hmm...sounds to me like her people told her to avoid the ship Bravo was sinking...
So "Real Hot Hottie" Tim Gunn (that Heidi quote made me shiver with disgust) was called in as a last minute replacement. I have to say that although I ardently admire Tim, we disagreed in almost every respect. I have more appreciation for him in his mentor role now that I have seen him as a judge and found that we are definitely not on the same page.

Kenley should have been worried, her judges were now officially all people she had disrespected. She never should have made it to the final round of the competition. She had earned her way out. That being said, I think she put on a better show than Korto and I was perplexed when Korto was left in the final two.

Here are some more delicious Kenleyisms from the finale:
"My decisions are final"
"...it's insulting. I did not take my work from anyone else"
"I don't give an f- what they say"
"You better keep that f-in' dog away from my ? (shit?)"
"Yeah, I realize now maybe I need to do some research"
(said in an f- you I'm never doing anything for you people tone)

Leanne

Beautiful, classy, cohesive. Daring without being gauche. It may not have the soul stirrers that Kenley can sometimes cook up, but it feels like a designer's collection. I think it was the collection most enhanced by the motion on the runway. It flowed like waves. I was happy that Leanne pointed out what she thought was her weakest piece and I agreed. (the blue shirt/vest and tan pants - specifically the top). I was confused as to why Tim Gunn pointed it out as being his particular favorite...

There are some beautiful pieces and some awful misses (the puff sleeved teal monstrosity harkens back to that horrible plaid dress, and the white 50s dress was beautifully painted, but the other painted sheath with the messy sleeves was very overdone). As a whole it plays uneven and inexperienced, not to mention derivative. I'm also not sure why she thought she should wear leaves on her head.

Korto

What's with all the fan-lollipops? They look ridiculous on the runway. There are some duds - see short khaki dress and anything white. The colors are great, but this collection doesn't have that spark. Her work just consistently doesn't speak to me.
I must say though, the green dress that she brought to judging was pretty extraordinary.
I am not surprised to see that the things I disliked were Korto's last minute executions before the runway show. Once again Tim liked the piece that I disliked the most...Lost in translation?
Her looks just didn't do it for me. They seemed overdone and uninspired.
